Identification of Quantitative Trait Locus (QTLs) for Submergence Tolerance at Seedlings Stage in Two Rice Populations Derived from African Germplasm.
My research is based on the Identification QTLs that are involved in the Tolerance of TOS6454 (an Interspecific from African Germplasm) to submergence stress. These involved the development of two mapping population segregating for submergence tolerance, a submergence Phenotyping methods as well as Series of genotyping using DarT and LGC Platforms. These QTLs were detection by finding association between specific DNA regions and Phenotyping results. Significant QTLs were detected; these pyramids with Sub1 could boost the tolerance of elite rice varieties grown in flood prone area.

Evaluation of some yam species for resistance to anthracnose and yam mosaic virus
To evaluate the resistance of Dioscorea alata accessions and Dioscorea rotundata breeding lines to yam anthracnose and yam mosaic virus in selected yam producing states in Nigeria. It involves the employment of molecular diagnostics tools such as PCR and LAMP for pathogen detection and disease diagnostics.
